Zion’s Church is a town church in Esbjerg built in the relatively early days of the town’s expansion into a major port and industial centre. It was designed by the architect J. Magdahl Nielsen and completed in 1914. Its style is unusual for a Danish church; it comprises a high main body and a multifaceted high tower with spire. The architect was inspired by the architecture of the churches on the Swedish island of Gotland. The altarpiece depicts Jesus calming the storm.
