Vor Frue Church is located near the heart of the historic city. A church has stood on this site since at least the eleventh century, from which time remnants of a wooden church have been found. The church is dedicated to Our Lady, and is one of the few churches in Denmark to have retained this dedication after the Reformation. The present church was built in Romanesque style in the mid-thirteenth century. Next to the church is Odense’s oldest remaining secular building, now used as a church hall.
