Vester Mariendal Mill is a familiar landmark in Aalborg. The windmill is situated some distance from the town centre in the western suburbs. It marks the beginning of a stretch of motorway which is named after it. It is an eighteenth century Dutch-style windmill that was moved to this location at the end of the nineteenth century. The mill is now in the care of the Aalborg municipality. It contains fully functioning machinery including stones and gears, but the sails no longer turn.
