Vejle windmill is the civic symbol and lies on a hill in the south of the town. The first windmill on this site was built in the mid-nineteenth century but burnt down and the current mill dates from the late 1800s. It was fully functional until the 1960s. Inside the windmill you can find an exhibition on its history. From the mill’s round walkway there are excellent views to be had over the town, the fjord and the nearby countryside, especially on fine days.
