Vandkunst literally means simply “water art”. It is an imposing water sculpture that is a prominent feature of Aabenraa’s main square. It was created in 1993 by sculptor Erik Varming. Two small pools of water are connected by a channel twelve metres in length. An imposing pillar that is around five metres high rises above one of the pools. This pillar is surmounted by a sculpture. The piece represents a striking modern contrast to the surrounding traditional townscape.
