The Tibirke Hills are a popular beauty spot that lie to the west of Helsinge, and south of Tisvildeleje. They are one of the oldest conservation projects in Denmark’s history, representing an early and succesful attempt to prevent sand drift and erosion desertifying the area. The patches of woodland feature Scots Pine and juniper. Much of the dunescape is now richly clad with heather. There are vantage points in the area that offer fine views over the surrounding countryside.
