Tibirke Church lies to the east of Helsinge, on the edge of a village. It is largely surrounded by dense deciduous woodland. It began as a small granite church constructed in the twelfth century in the Romanesque style. Extensive alterations took place during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The tower was added during the late Gothic period, in the sixteenth century, although it has been altered and rebuilt on several occasions.
