Thorstrup Church lies in the countryside to the north of Varde. It was originally constructed of local granite boulders. The tower and porch were added later, built of bricks, the manufacture of which had become more widespread by late medieval times. Many of the details in the church come from the late eighteenth century when local estate owner Andreas Teilman from Nørholm furnished the church with its entrance doors and sundial. His influence can be seen in inscriptions around the church.
