Østre Anlaeg is a parkland area situated to the east of the main city centre attractions and accessible by a short bus ride. It is beautifully landscaped featuring plenty of attractive trees and a good-sized lake. The lake supports a large number of ducks and other water birds. There is a nature playground designed to amuse smaller visitors. The park features a notable sculpture, Hugo Lisberg’s figure "The Fishing Mermaid."
