Although it is not usually opened to the public unless by special arrangement, the Stock Exchange is included in many tours because of its fantastic architecture, historical associations, and landmark status. One of Christian IV’s pet projects, the building was supposed to demonstrate visually Denmark’s status as a great trading nation. It is built in a Dutch renaissance style and was completed in 1640. Its most famous aspect is the “dragon spire” which appears to have dragon’s tails winding around it.
