This statue of Søren Kierkegaard is found in the garden of the Royal Danish Library. It was created in 1918 by sculptor Louis Hasselriis. It is a tribute to the great Danish poet and philosopher, founder of existentialism, and one of the town’s most revered literary figures. Kierkegaard is portrayed apparently absorbed in his own thoughts. His gaze is directed towards a point where his fiancée Regine Olsen is thought to have lived.
