The Catholic Church of Saint Mary is notable for its unusual octagonal shape. It was built in 1926 to serve the growing Catholic community in Denmark. Its interior combines a mixture of traditional Danish influences and more modern touches – particularly notable is a dramatic mosaic of Christ which dominates the high space above the altar. The congregation is no longer made up of Danish converts and people who kept the “old religion” and visitors can expect a harmonious ethnic mix including Poles, Sri Lankans, and other “new Danes”.
