St Knud’s Church is Odense Cathedral, and dates from the fourteenth century. The English version of the name Knud is Canute, and the saint referred to is the eleventh century King of Denmark “Canute the Holy” and his bones are on display in the crypt. Two other pre-Reformation Kings are buried here. The cathedral is true Gothic in style and has a notably high nave. The carved altar-piece of the church dates from the 1500s and is extremely detailed.
