St. Catherine’s Church stands in the heart of the ancient city of Ribe. It is a beautiful, large and imposing building that dates from the fifteenth century. There were three previous churches on this site, all of which were built to serve the Abbey next door, which was founded by the Dominicans in the thirteenth century. There were once many medieval churches and abbeys in the town, but St. Catherine’s is all, besides the Cathedral, that survived the Reformation intact.
