Sortebrødre Torv lies in the heart of the medieval city of Odense. The name means Blackfriars Square. It refers to the once great monastery that dominated the eastern part of town before the Reformation. Now the square is a bustling meeting point and a focus of commerce and activity. It contains seating and is tree-lined. One of its primary attractions is the markethere. This is held twice a week and sells all manner of fresh fruit and vegetables and dairy products produced by local farmers.
