Silkeborg Museum of Art is a modern gallery located just outside the city centre. It is founded on the personal collection of artist Asger Jorn. His own work is represented comprehensively. The development of Danish art from 1900 is traced through the work of five major artists. European art from outside Denmark is more heavily represented in the post-war collection. In total the collection contains 5000 pieces by more than 150 artists. The museum hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year. Guided tours in English and several other languages are available on request.
