Øse Church lies in a small village to the east of Varde. It has a choir and nave built in Romanesque style. It has some beautiful furniture in its interior. This includes a pulpit in early Renaissance style that dates from 1584. A restoration in the 1980s uncovered some early wall frescoes which are now an attraction for visitors. Danish churches are known for these fine decorations, many of which were destroyed or hidden as a consequence of post-Reformation iconoclasm.
