Sanct Nikolai Kirke is the largest church in Svendborg and stands in the centre of the town near the main square. It is in an old quarter of the town and is surrounded by historic buildings. The church is built of brick, and some parts date back to the thirteenth century. The tower was added just before the Reformation. The altarpiece is from 1894, and was designed by Joachim Skovgaard. The stained glass windows were created by Kraesten Iversen and are well worth seeing.
