The Royal Stables and Coach museum is situated on the island of Slotsholmen, next to the Royal riding grounds and near the Christianborg palace. The royal stables date from the time of the original palace, the eighteenth century, when the King’s horses enjoyed superb facilities. The horses’ stables are filled with marble columns and features and have huge windows, filling them with light. There are exhibitions of very well-preserved equipment and coaches. The stables are still in working use and thus the twenty pampered royal horses form an attraction themselves.
