The Danish royal lifeguards are famous, like their English equivalents, for wearing bearskin hats. They are also at the heart of popular ceremony, loved by tourists and locals alike, as they march through the streets performing music on a daily basis. They are based at the Rosenborg palace parade ground in the centre of Copenhagen. Here you will find the lifeguards museum, which is dedicated to their history from their establishment in the seventeenth century. Among the artefacts on display are uniforms, weapons and musical instruments.
