The royal library gardens are a landscaped area, dating from 1920, and which are situated within the Christianborg complex, on Slotsholmen. They are a popular, yet peaceful place, ideal as a quiet spot to enjoy reading a book or eat lunch. There is a modern fountain in the centre which erupts with water once an hour, on the hour. The flowerbeds are well-maintained and there are plenty of established trees. As well as the fountain, the gardens feature a famous statue of philosopher Søren Kierkegaard.
