The Royal Cast Collection, while the responsibility of Statens Museum for Kunst, is housed separately. Casts of sculptures from around the world sit side by side in order that one can appreciate the development of sculpture in the classical tradition in one place. In this collection are many examples of sculpture from classical antiquity as well as casts taken from medieval churches. There is a large amount of renaissance material, and Michelangelo is represented heavily. Guided tours are available in English, but only if booked in advance.
