The Rosenborg Palace gardens are adjacent to the palace itself. They are probably the most central green spot of any size and the one most likely to be chanced upon by visitors who do not know Copenhagen well. While popular with tourists, the gardens nonetheless provide a popular spot for local families to gather in the bright, long days of the Copenhagen summer. Originally laid out by King Christian IV, the gardens’ beautiful flowerbeds are a great attraction in the high season. A well-equipped children’s playground is available. A variety of free concerts are mounted in the Hercules pavilion. There are cafe facilities in the summer months.
