Ribe Art Museum opened in 1891 and is the town’s chief gallery. The permanent exhibition contains around 350 Danish paintings from the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Particularly strong is its representation of Skagen artists and works from the Danish Golden Age. The paintings are spread over three floors of the building, which is an old patrician manor house. The museum plays host to special and temporary exhibitions. The museum offers a shop, library, café and special activities for children.
