The Regisse Spring lies a few kilometres south of Nyborg, in the village of Frørup. It is one of Denmark’s best-known medieval pilgrimage sites. It continues to attract visitors; the traditional time to visit the spring is on Midsummer’s Eve. The spring is named after a young Christian woman who preached the Gospel in the early Middle Ages, and was martyred here. The water is said to have risen miraculously after this event; it is believed to have healing properties.
