Queen Dorothea’s chapel is a magnificent sixteenth-century Renaissance affair that served as the royal chapel to Sønderborg Slot. Much of the interior work is Flemish and dates to the seventeenth century or before. The organ and pulpit are locally produced work and early seventeenth century. Queen Dorothea was the wife of Christian III, who lived in the castle after his death. The accompanying museum contains a café and shop.
