Nyhavn (or "the new harbour") is perhaps the sight most seen on postcards of Copenhagen; a row of beautiful painted houses alongside pretty little boats. Nyhavn is one of the most visited areas of Copenhagen. From here you can begin a canal and harbour tour. The houses of Nyhavn are almost universally converted into cafes and restaurants, and there is a large amount of outside seating, which can be used even in winter thanks to outside heaters. The standard of food along Nyhavn is very high, although don’t expect any bargains. During the evenings, especially during summer, its late-opening bars are an important centre for nightlife.
