The North Schleswig German Museum is devoted to the history of the German-speaking minority who live in this part of Denmark. Schleswig has long been disputed between German-speaking and Danish-speaking people. Major battles have been fought in this area. The museum uses an extensive archive to document the history of the German minority, its distinctive culture, and the progress towards integration and acceptance since Schleswig became Danish in 1920.
