The Noblewomen’s Convent is located in the centre of Odense, by the banks of the river that runs through the middle of the city. It was founded in the early eighteenth century as a community for noblewomen by Karen Brahe. Convents were retained, and new ones inaugrated, even after the Reformation. The convent continued to function until the late nineteen seventies. Part of the building originally formed a section of the Bishop’s palace. The interior is richly decorated with fine paintings, tapestries and panelling.
