The contemporary art centre run by Copenhagen City Council is housed in the former Nikolaj church in the centre of Copenhagen. It is not a commercial gallery and you cannot buy the works on display. The work here comes from both Denmark and abroad. There are seven changing temporary exhibitions and two permanent exhibitions. The works are sometimes in traditional art forms but the highly innovative, weird and wonderful are also on display, including installation art. There are occasional exhibitions geared to children. There is a popular cafe outside.
