Frederiksborg Castle, which dates from the 17th century is the largest Renaissance building in the Nordic World. In the late nineteenth century it was handed over by the Royal Family to the Carlsberg Foundation, in order that they might make it into a Museum of National History. The splendid banqueting hall, audience chamber, and chapel have been maintained as attractions and are complemented by an exhibition charting Denmark’s history from 1500 within the beautiful interior of the castle. Audio guides and guided tours are available. A lake and landscaped gardens and parkland surround the castle.
