The Fisheries and Maritime Museum on Denmark’s west coast, in Esbjerg, reflects the vast importance that fishing and seafaring have held to this part of the country. It was founded in 1968. It has been awarded four-star status by the Danish tourist Authorities. Its permanent exhibitions show the development of Danish shipping; there is also a large seawater aquarium, a seal enclosure, and an outdoor playground for children. A varied experience can be topped off with a visit to the cafeteria or shop.
