Magasin is one of the oldest department stores in Scandinavia, and still the largest. It is located at the exclusive end of the pedestrianised shopping street of Strøget, bordering Kongens Nytorv. Its imposing Victorian façade makes it one of the landmarks of the square. Magasin, like Illum, is more than a shop; it is an institution where you can eat, drink and meet, and some of its cafés provide excellent views over the busy square. It is not unknown for members of the royal family to visit this shop, so keep your eyes peeled.
