The Lion is found in the centre of the city of Odense, by the Old Town Hall. It is a sculpture formed partly of carved stone, and partly of polychrome. It was unveiled in 1952. It was created by the sculptor Henrik Starcke. Starcke originally trained as a painter but found that he expressed himself best through the creation of sculptures like this, which explore fantastic stories and natural themes and use unusual media.
