Lindholm Høje, situated in Nørresundby, a short distance across the fjord from Aalborg, is bound to appeal to those in Denmark on the trail of the Vikings. It is the largest Viking burial site discovered; over 700 graves have been excavated. The many discoveries are presented in the accompanying museum. North of the burial ground lies the remains of a settlement where there are remains of Viking houses. The remains were remarkably well preserved owing to a sand drift covering them 1000 years ago.
