Kongens Have (“The King’s garden”) is the large area of beautiful parkland that lies adjacent to Odense Slot, the royal mansion built at the behest of Frederik IV. The landscaped garden was an integral part of his scheme. It is now a popular and beautifully maintained public park. Of particular note is a bronze statue of Frederik VII that stands in the gardens, a bronze by Christian Gottlieb Vilhelm, dating from 1868. The park is frequently a venue for free concerts.
