The Kaj Munk Memorial stands off the Silkeborg road to the east of Ikast. It marks the spot in the woodland where the Lutheran priest was found dead in 1944 after being killed by the Gestapo. It is hewn of stone in the shape of a cross. Kaj Munk is honoured as a saint and martyr by the Lutheran Church. Munk was a parish priest who was also well known as a writer and public figure. He was an outspoken critic of the Nazi occupation of Denmark and of the persecution of the Jews.
