Holmen is a newly redeveloped area in central Copenhagen that contains the fine Holmens Church. It was, from the 1600s onwards, the place in which the Royal shipyards were based, and still contains buildings from this era. It is now the home to a variety of cultural institutions such as The Danish School of Architecture, Denmark’s Theatre School, and the Danish Film School and the stunning new Opera House. Thus the district has an artistic feel; there are good eating and drinking spots here.
