A few miles to the north of the City of Aarhus, not far from the bay, lies the pretty country village of Hjortshøj. The village centres on the pre-Reformation church. It is set in an attractive and well-maintained churchyard that has plenty of established trees. It dates from the twelfth or thirteenth centuries and the main body is consequently Romanesque in style. The tower and porch of the church are later additions.
