The Hirschsprung Collection is an art gallery situated in an attractive green area near the old ramparts of Copenhagen. Heinrich Hirschsprung was a wealthy tobacco manufacturer who donated his collection of art to the nation. The gallery contains Danish Art from the 1800s, including major works by the master painters of the Danish Golden Age and the Skagen painters. The museum displays the pictures in small rooms furnished in an intimate turn–of-the century style. It also holds special temporary exhibitions.
