Hinge Church is beautifully situated on the banks of Hinge Lake, a short drive to the southeast of Kjellerup. It is one of the oldest brick built churches in Denmark. It is built from the large medieval bricks known as monk stone and was erected around the middle of the thirteenth century. It is thought the church was built by the monks at the nearby monastery of Alling. The tower was added at the end of the eighteenth century. Inside the church you will find a rare series of medieval frescoes.
