The Nobel Laureate Henrik Pontoppidian is commemorated by a bust found in Mølleparken, the landscaped gardens in the centre of Aarhus. The monument was created in 1956 by sculptor Gottfred Eickhoff. Pontoppidian is one of the few writers to have shared a Nobel Prize for Literature, in 1917. He was noted for his romantic/realistic style that explored the conflicts between mankind’s dreams and his struggles through ordinary existence.
