Heligaandskirken, as it is usually known, means The Church of the Holy Ghost in English. It is found in a very central location just off the shopping street of Strøget. It was extensively rebuilt in the 18th century after it was damaged by fire. It has a beautiful interior with typical Danish features, such as numbered gated pews, and is open during the day and sometimes in the evening. Visitors are quite welcome to join the traditional night prayer and get a flavour of Lutheran worship. The adjoining buildings are used for exhibitions and concerts. Frequent and popular book sales are held in the church hall and a cheap cafe is run by parishioners outside during summer months.
