Hans Christian Andersen’s wonderful world is a popular commercial attraction building on the enduring popularity of Denmark’s most famous writer, the author of numerous fairy tales such as "The Ugly Duckling", "The Little Mermaid" and "The Emperor’s New Clothes". It was opened to co-incide with the bicentenary of the author’s birth in 2005. Many of Andersen’s fairy tales are illustrated through colourful tableaux along with stories from his own life. Recreations of the writer’s rooms are presented along with narration in Danish, which is supported with English and German subtitles. .
