Gråsten Slot is a royal castle located in the border territory of Southern Jylland. The estate was established in the sixteenth century, largely as a base for hunting. An impressive Baroque castle was built on this site in the early eighteenth century, but burnt down. The current building dates from the eighteentth and nineteenth centuries. The beautiful grounds and castle church are open to the public. The monarch is in residence here for about three weeks of the year.
