The Great Hall of Christianborg is the most spectacular room of the palace; it is more than 40 metres long and 10 metres high. It is used for state occasions by both the Queen and Prime Minister. It is open to the public when not in use; you must join an official guided tour. The Great Hall features a spectacular series of seventeen tapestries which depict the history of Denmark and its royal family, and which were a gift from Danish people to the present Queen, Margrethe II, on the occasion of her 50th birthday.
