The beach by Gl. Skydebane lies on the southern edge of Sønderborg. It is sheltered by established woodland. It lies near to a popular harbour and marina. There are bathing jetties, including one with special facilities for handicapped people. During high season there is a lifeguard on the beach. the beach is popular with windsurfers. It has been awarded the Blue Flag, a national accolade which indicates that high standards of water quality and safety are maintained.
