The Gefion fountain lies in the heart of Churchill park, which is by the harbour in central Copenhagen. Gefion is a Nordic Goddess who is supposed to have carved the island of Sjælland (or Zealand) on which Copenhagen stands, on the instructions of the Norse Gods. This major artwork, dedicated to the Goddess, was sculpted by Dane Anders Bundgaaard 100 years ago. It lies close to the Anglican church and café and seating facilities. Joggers and walkers frequently pass this site.
