Fanø Museum is situated on the island of Fanø, which is a popular holiday spot and a short ferry ride from Esbjerg. It is located in Nordby, which is not far from the ferry terminal. The museum is located in a building that was built in 1801 and served as a family home until it was converted to its current function in 1939. The museum preserves the typical layout and furnishings of a traditional Fanø home. In addition it contains large numbers of photographs, pictures and artefacts illustrating various aspects of island’s culture and history.
