Ensted Church lies a few kilometres outside Aabenraa, to the south of the town. It is a rural church located in idyllic countryside. It stands on a small hill. The church has no tower and was built in the early thirteenth century. Most of the body of the church dates from this time and is of roughly-hewn stone. The porch is a late nineteenth century addition. The church has a fine sixteenth century crucifix in late Gothic style. The interior is light and has benefited from a recent restoration.
